Window installation day goes smoothly when your home is ready for the crew. A little preparation the night before prevents delays, protects your belongings, and helps the installers work efficiently. Most of it takes under an hour. Here is exactly what to do.
Clear the work zones inside and out. Move furniture at least three feet from every window being replaced, and take down curtains, blinds, and wall decorations nearby. Outside, trim back bushes, move patio furniture, and ensure clear access to each window. Crews need room for ladders, tools, and the old windows coming out.
Protect your belongings from dust. Window replacement generates fine dust, especially during full-frame installs. Cover nearby furniture with sheets, and consider closing HVAC vents in work rooms or shutting the system off during the noisiest phases. Our installation crews use drop cloths, but an extra layer of your own never hurts.
Plan for kids, pets, and parking. Keep children and pets away from work areas — there will be open wall cavities, sharp tools, and installers carrying heavy glass. Make sure the crew has a clear parking spot and path to the door. If you work from home, set up in a room far from the action or plan to be out; installation is loud.
Know what to expect during the day. A standard retrofit takes 30 to 60 minutes per window; full-frame replacements take longer. The crew will remove one window at a time to minimize open exposure. There will be noise, dust, and some disruption — that is normal. A good crew cleans as they go and does a full walkthrough with you at the end. If the project uncovers hidden rot or damage, your project manager will discuss options before proceeding.
Do a final walkthrough before the crew leaves. Open and close every window, check the locks, and inspect interior and exterior trim. Confirm the work area is clean. Keep your warranty paperwork somewhere safe. Then enjoy your quieter, more comfortable home — and if anything needs attention later, contact us on WhatsApp.
